May Issue: Reckoning Day

You Lived to See

do you see
these dark grey clouds
gloomy, ghostly
blacking out the sky

could it be? would it be?

do you hear the thunder growl
rumbling, grumbling
menacingly

could it be? would it be?

do you feel the wind arise
steadily, relentlessly
growing to a storm

could it be?

do you see the lightning strike
blinding
powerful
destructive

do you hear the quiet
that eerie tranquillity
that suddenly emerged

may it be? (the reckoning)

do you feel the fear and tension
loading up in the air
growing every moment
into fright and angst

it must be (the reckoning)

earth is trembling
so are we
afraid to see
the reckoning

stone-still, still shaking
we pause, we freeze
standing, starring
convinced to see
the reckoning

don't you hear their trumpets'
sound
a battle cry of the divine

don't you feel it in your bones
your veins
your soul

the reckoning
the reckoning

the time has come
and won't come back
now it's here
and it won't leave
(not without you, not without me)

now you know
you lived to see
but won't live out

the reckoning
