Out
Judgement day has come;
your mind keels over itself,
refusing to let the words go
past lips you kept sealed for years.
Look into their eyes,
speak your fears into existence.
Watch their unwritten anger fix their faces
into snarls you’ll never unsee.
You‘ll pocket this memento of time;
a polaroid of disappointment.
Of how they stared at your words
and spat on your dreams.
You long to
sink
into
the
floorboards.
Wishes to un-recall this stretch of time
sprint through your mind.
The residue of regret
clings to your body.
When you look at them now
it's all you can see,
glossing over your vision,
eating through memories.
Then the questions come,
droning ceaselessly.
It was foolish to have hope,
but their judgement has been granted.
