Winter Issue: Flâneur

The Last Time I Saw Paris

The last time I saw Paris
was the first
but firsts and lasts don't really matter
since I was walking somewhere near Buzenval
I saw a cat rush to an alley
perhaps to get some food,
or company, though I think cats
prefer to be alone but anyhow
what do I know about a cats desires?
You could see the moon bright
and clear that night, which is rare in Paris
since the streetlights are so bright
and my pen and notebook I got
after leaving my job at the pharmacy
sat still and hidden in my bag
as I was trotting along an avenue
perhaps to get some food,
or company, who cares?
All I know is that I miss to rush,
to be one of the quicker cats again.
